Jhelum in Santa Cruz was the happy venue for dazzling designer JJ Valaya to celebrate 25 years in the fashion industry. Jhelum Gopal Dalvi, founder of the multi-designer store-in- store space, looked lovely in a shining sari from JJ Valaya’s new line. Actors Tanisha Mukerji, Aarti Chabria and Sonali Kulkarni also showed off the designer’s creations.
The Classics of JJ Valaya was what you witnessed on preview evening as one had a glimpse of the line of occasion wear ensembles based on three of his all-time favourite inspirations: Gulistan, a gentle homage to nature with his signature prints and antique floral embroidery; Jamavar, a magic of Indian paisleys and intricacies of jamavar motifs in a modern interpretation; Punjab, a humble tribute to the designer’s roots, inspired by the court dressing of the Maharajas of Kapurthala.
