Fashionable folk flocked to Ensemble as its executive director Tina Tahiliani-Parikh celebrated the 30th anniversary of the country’s first multi-designer store, located at Lion Gate, Mumbai.
Guests were welcomed to the launch of ‘The First 30’ – a unique show encapsulating the evolution of fashion at Ensemble, by India’s finest designers. To create this exhibition, Ensemble invited 40 of the country’s leading designers to unleash their imagination with a representation that best essays their journey with the iconic fashion incubator. It could be a video, sculpture, garment or a collection, photographs, archived pieces, live installations, or even something that represents the future.
Joining in the celebrations were Tarun Tahiliani, Mehr Jessia Rampal, Shahab Durazi, Monisha Jaising, Varun Bahl, Arjun Saluja, Raghavendra Rathore, Sandeep Khosla, Manish Malhotra, Pinky Reddy, Sabina and Anil Chopra, Nachiket Barve, Aishwarya Nair, Surily Goel, Sheetal Mafatlal, Tasneem and Vikram Mehta, Madhoo Shah, Ujjwala Raut, Roohi and Chetan Jaikishan, Krishna Mehta, Payal Singhal, Achla Sachdev, Seema and Jaideep Mehrotra, Vikram Raizada, Simone and Fahad Samar, Jaspreet Chandok and Sharmilla Khanna among many, many more.
Guests were heard revisiting memories of Ensemble over the years while sipping on bubbly and vodka, complemented by tasty hors d’oeuvres. An added attraction of the evening/night was the retro playlist from the late Eighties to early Nineties – a throwback to all the soundtracks from Ensemble fashion shows in its early years.
