Film buffs, rejoice! India’s passion for cinema has inspired Google to create a range of immersive Search experiences especially for Indian cinema. Now, you can ask Google questions about films, actors, song lyrics, film trivia, trailers, screening times and much more – and you will get rich, contextual answers.
These Search experiences were highlighted at the ballroom of Taj Lands End that took on an appearance of a movie theatre complete with theatre-style seating and a popcorn station. Film director Karan Johar along with Google India’s Marketing Head Sapna Chadha and Search Product Manager Satyajeet Salgar were there to bring alive the magic of the movies as seen through Google. Also present was Rajan Anandan, VP and MD, Google South Asia & India.
With around one in 10 mobile searches in India related to Indian cinema, Google Search now gives local cinema enthusiasts an easy way to discover and explore everything they want to know about their favourite movies, stars, music, dialogues, actors and more.
Google also released a video tribute to Indian cinema that showcased these Search experiences. Highlighting the way Search has evolved, showcased were answers and carousels powered by the Knowledge Graph, movie showtime and featured snippets.
And, when Karan Johar is around, can there be no rapid-fire round? There sure was! All in all, it was good fun in the afternoon at the movies.
