Stairway to heaven

It looked like a stairway to heaven as five female models and three male models walked up and down the stylish stairway at Li Bai, high up on the 37th floor of the St. Regis. They were there to give guests a sneak peek into the Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2016 opening show by Manish Malhotra presented by LYF.
The haute couture collection called ‘Elements’ is inspired by nature and brings out the dichotomy of beauty and power present in the four elements – earth, water, air and fire, much like the play of confidence and demureness, tradition and glamour that we see in a contemporary bride.
The collection will include richly embellished gowns, lehengas with trails and structured tops and blouses. Layers of fabulous organza, tussar and crepe in pastel hues of baby pink, powder blue, light green and orange give the outfits a dreamy allure. Motifs of tropical flora, sharp, architectural cuts and asymmetrical detailing add a touch of edge to the collection.
As with every season, the showcase will also present a capsule for grooms in the collection. There are sharp jackets and kurtas, tailored pants and churidars in blue and ivory for the gentlemen with a refined look.
This opening show at Mehboob Studio on March 29 will be a forerunner to the fashion passion to unfold at Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2016 at the St. Regis from March 30 to April 3.
