Fabulous fashion flashed before you at Sophia College at the Max Design Awards grand finale with 15 finalists unleashing their creativity.
Max gave students with a passion for fashion design an opportunity to showcase their skills, meet fashion industry stalwarts and network with each other as well as professionals in fashion.
The theme was ‘Heritage Revisited’ and there was a phenomenal response with over 165 entries. The top 15 finalists were shortlisted by the jury comprising fashion designers Monisha Jaising, Rahul Mishra, Troy Costa and Nikhil Thampi, Max Fashion executive director Vasanth Kumar, AVP design Kamakshi Kaul and project head Marc Robinson.
These finalists were given a certain budget and timeframe to produce garments as per their sketches for the grand finale. And the winner was Rajesh Nichani (FAD International, Pune) with runners-up Tushar Kumar Jha (NIFT, Mumbai) and Krashagi Saini (NIFT, Delhi). The Best Ramp Appeal went to Ann Thomas (NIFT, Mumbai).
The top three winners were gratified with a cash prize of Rs. 70,000, Rs. 60,000 and Rs. 50,000, a photo feature in Elle magazine and three months internship with one of the jury members. The winner, Rajesh Nichani, got a chance to work with Max and also enjoy a three-week summer program with Istituto Marangoni at the Milan campus.
