Fliers will be happy to hear that effective May 1, Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, will debut its award-winning Airbus A380 in India with the introduction of the superjumbo on the Mumbai-Abu Dhabi route.
At the meet at the Rendezvous at the Taj, with Calum Laming, VP, Guest Experience, Etihad Airways in attendance, you heard that India’s capital will join the airline’s three existing A380 destinations of London Heathrow, New York and Sydney. From June 1 Melbourne will also be served by an A380.
The Mumbai flight will connect seamlessly over Abu Dhabi to the A380 New York service catering for huge business and leisure travel between India and the United States.
The A380 features 496 seats in a four-class configuration – The Residence, First Apartments, Business Studios and Economy Smart Seats – offering an unprecedented level of luxury, space and privacy in the most highly-customised cabin interiors on a commercial airline.
Etihad Airways will operate the A380 on one of its thrice-daily scheduled services to and from Mumbai. Flight EY204 from Abu Dhabi to Mumbai and EY203 from Mumbai to Abu Dhabi will both carry the 9W code of strategic partner Jet Airways.
The two airlines combined operate five daily flights between Mumbai and Abu Dhabi with connecting services to destinations across the Middle East, Europe, Africa, North America and South America.
