Sheer splendour engulfed you as you stepped into Gem Palace nestled in the green enclaves of the iconic and heritage building Dhanraj Mahal near Gateway of India. It was an amalgamation of opulence and elegance at the launch of the stylish store helmed by Siddharth Kasliwal with the evening soiree curated and conceptualised by Aarti Surendranath.
Catching your eye was the pride of Gem Palace, pieces that have been displayed at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Kremlin in Moscow specially flown in and shown to the awed audience. From waist-belts made of the most superior quality of Columbian emeralds to a headpiece for a South Indian bride made of diamonds and rubies and even a prized headgear made of emeralds for the Indian groom, you saw it all. Greatly admired was the seven-line necklace worn by a royal princess at her wedding, a magnum opus piece of art that took over three-and-a-half years to create by 75 artisans, boasting of 1,100 carats diamonds, 5,500 carats pearls and over a kilogram of gold.
Chandon bubbly did the rounds along with a selection of hors d’oeuvres and guests were in for another treat in the form of a passionate performance by the Langas folk musicians from Rajasthan. Uma Dubash, Smita Crishna-Godrej, Sagarika Ghatge, Vidya Malavade, Debbie Hitkari, Shalini Piramal, Shweta Shetty, Deepika Gehani, Indu Shahani, Renuka Batlivala, Padmini Kolhapure, Amy Billimoria, Sabira Merchant, Rouble Nagi, Malti Jain, Seema Goel, Meena Raheja and Sabita Dhanrajgir were among the many guests who thoroughly enjoyed this enchanting evening to remember.
