A sparkling time was had by all the lucky guests as Aspri Spirits hosted a tasting of Freixenet Cava at The Sassy Spoon in Bandra. Sipped and savoured were the Cordon Negro Brut and the white-frosted Carta Nevada Semi Dry. Cordon Negro Brut is undoubtedly Freixenet’s core brand and  is iconic and globally renowned. The Carta Nevada Range is a a wonderful aperitif and pairs wonderfully with spicy flavours of Indian cuisine.

Taking you on a sparkling wine trip were Damian Clarke, MD, Freixenet Group and Philippe Jamme. You learnt that Freixenet is the world’s leading Cava, the sparkling wine from Spain made with native grapes like Macabeo, Xarel-lo and Parellada, most of which is produced in Catalonia.

Freixenet Cavas are made in the méthode champenoise and it can take up to three years from the time the grapes are picked until the wine is ready for your glass. The beautiful terroir of Penedès, the generous Catalan climate, and painstaking attention to detail, both in the vineyard and the winery, allow them to produce charming and elegant Freixenet Cavas that rival many of the best Champagnes.
