It was very heartening to note that popular fashion designer Amy Billimoria celebrated her 40th birthday over a charity fundraiser. In collaboration with Nargis Dutt Memorial Charitable Trust (NDMCT), she hosted ‘The Walk of Pride’ at Amy Billimoria House of Design, her Juhu store in partnership with Pankti Shah.
What you witnessed were power women taking to the ramp alongside little girls who matched their style and aplomb. Dia Mirza, Mini Mathur, Maria Goretti, Madhoo Shah, Rhea Pillai, Queenie Singh, Urvashi Sharma, Akanksha Agarwal, Reshma Merchant and Manjari Phadnis all walked.
Amy Billimoria interpreted ornate hand embroidery on varied silhouettes from Indo-western drapes, bridal lehengas and her evergreen saris for the show. The colour palette for this collection ranged from fern, peach and champagne gold to different shades of blue.
Jyoti Mukerji designed the outfits for the little girls and the collection was a modern twist to vintage styles and silhouettes, complementing the outfits worn by the power women.
There was also a men’s show with outfits by Madhurima Nigam and Zayed Khan as showstopper. Walking were Krushna Abhishek, Amal and Armaan Malik, Harmeet and Manmeet, Vipul Roy, Vishal Singh, Anuj Sachdeva, Terence Lewis and Siddhant Gupta. And there was much cheer for the cute Nevaan Nigam. Yes, Sonu Nigam was there to support his wife.
And present right through the show was Priya Dutt, trustee, NDMCT who was pleased that the proceeds of ‘The Walk of Pride’ collection would go towards women and child empowerment at Sonave village in Palghar.
