Atosa, the eclectic multi-designer store by Aparna Badlani and Azmina Rahimtoola, was abuzz at the preview of the new collection by Amit Aggarwal who presented his first-ever Indian couture collection along with a signature western wear line that is a tribute to organic living.
This new collection blends moulding, metallics and magic to create a sense of strength through form and superimposes it with the fragility of the organic. It allows the hardness of armoury to exist with the humility of transparency, making each piece seem like a timeless work of magic.
The designs mixed craftsmanship, using old and forgotten techniques like fluting, pleating and draping, with innovation and materials inspired from the future if world fashion. The use of delicate fabrics such as lace, silk fringe and pearls, luxuriant textures like tulle, velvet and satin faced georgette, alongside hand-cut metallic strips exemplify the core of the collection: the metamorphosis between a traditional idea of beauty and a modern, progressive aesthetic, as Amit Aggarwal carried forward his forte and signature handwriting into his first Indian couture line.
Dressed in the designer’s couture collection were Tamannaah Bhatia, Waluscha De Sousa, Kaajal Agarwal, Yasmin Karachiwala, Krishika Lulla and Ramona Arena. Also present at this wine soiree were Manasi Scott, Suchitra Pillai, Riddhima Sud and Vikram Raizada.
