Hello and welcome!

Monkey Bar in Bandra
Monkey Bar in Bandra

Say hello to Monkey Bar. Yes, this fun and funky gastropub, that has been making waves in Bangalore and Delhi, has come to town – to buzzing Bandra.
Spread across 3,500 square feet, with indoor and outdoor seating, the delightful décor includes exposed walls, cosy nooks and corners, mismatched yet warm lights and fixtures. The bottom-lit wooden bar, literally a spliced log of wood, dominates the interiors. Graffiti, light fixtures sourced from Chor Bazaar and the signature monkey pictures are some of the highlights of the interiors. The furniture is unconventional in shades of red with splashes of happy yellow and turquoise blue, while retaining bits of signature green. The outdoor area beckons with comfortable seating, as well as the trademark foosball table that spells fun and games.
The menu is quirky and non-conformist, bringing together all the signature dishes that have made it a delight for foodies as well as introducing some new dishes. And the crockery is merrily mismatched and, somehow, perfectly complements the honest wholesomeness of the food. Wooden trays with an assortment of hot sauces will keep the most hardened chilli-freaks thoroughly satisfied.
There’s a whole new cocktail offering with the concoctions served in Nutella jars and copper tumblers. Cocktails have names like Mangaa, Copper Monkey, Spiked Masala Soda and Don Drapper.
And one more observation: on the super-packed Wednesday launch party night, the service was super-quick and efficient with the smiling staff happily doing their job with a flourish and finesse.
(Monkey Bar, located at Summerville, Junction of 14th and 33rd Road, off Linking Road, opens on Friday, May 15, from 7 p.m.)
